Hair Transplantation – What You Need to Know

Hair transplantation is a surgical procedure to move healthy hair follicles from a dense area of your scalp (usually the back) to an area that’s thinner or completely bald. The surgeon will create tiny holes or slits in the areas that will receive the grafts. They’ll then implant each follicle into its new spot. Depending on how many grafts you need, hair transplantation sessions can last from 4 to 8 hours. You’ll likely need multiple hair transplantation treatments, separated by several months between each session, to achieve the results you want.부산탈모병원모발이식

The surgeon sterilizes the area and numbs your scalp with a local anesthetic. Then, they’ll use one of two methods: FUSS or FUE. During a follicular unit strip surgery, or FUSS, the surgeon will remove a 6- to 10-inch section of skin from the back of your scalp. The surgeon then stitches the area closed. Follicular unit extraction, or FUE, is a less invasive method. Instead of removing a large strip of skin, the surgeon uses a motorized punch to remove individual follicular units from your scalp.

A follicular unit transplant, or FUT, is an alternative to a traditional hair restoration surgery. This technique uses a small punch to extract each individual hair follicle from the donor site of your scalp. This process is done under local anesthesia and usually takes about 2 to 3 hours.

Before the surgeon performs a follicular unit transplant, they’ll shave the hair on the ‘donor’ area of your head, which is typically the back and sides of the head. They may also harvest hair from your beard or chest if you don’t have enough thick, hair-bearing skin on the back and sides of your head.

Once the surgeon has harvested all of the hair follicles from the ‘donor’ area, they’ll trim them short to make them easier to handle. They’ll then use a special tool to create tiny holes or slits in your scalp where the follicles will be placed. Depending on the size of your baldness, you might need to get hundreds or even thousands of follicular unit grafts transplanted during one treatment session.

During a follicular unit transplant, the surgeon will either insert the hair follicles directly into the bald or thin spots of your scalp or place them in a row to fill in a receding hairline. After your surgery, you’ll need to follow your doctor’s instructions for aftercare. This includes cleaning and caring for the transplanted follicles and avoiding medications that might inhibit hair growth (i.e., propranolol, coumadin, and other antiplatelet drugs). You should also avoid using hairspray, gel, or other products that could cause damage to the follicles. After a few months, you’ll see the results of your hair transplant. Your hair will grow thicker and fuller. Your surgeon will probably recommend that you come in for regular checkups to monitor your progress. They might suggest that you take additional hair loss prevention medication or try different techniques to restore your natural hairline.청담모바로의원
